Writing and character shapes
Hanzi Writer by David Chanin (MIT)
powers handwriting practice. Stroke data is from
Hanzi Writer Data, derived from Make Me a Hanzi and fonts by Arphic Technology. The
unmodified data is redistributed under the
Arphic Public License.
Component data derives from 開放詞典’s
Chaizi dictionary (2015), CC
BY 3.0. We select simplified components and add teaching notes; these are
learning aids rather than a complete history of each character.

Lessons and audio
Modern stories, translations and teaching notes are AI-assisted editorial
pilot materials. Classic quotations are presented separately from modern
explanations. Narration is generated locally with Melo TTS (Chinese) and
Supertonic 3 (English). Recordings have not been professionally reviewed
in full.
Learning guide and course sequence.
Idiom sources were checked against the
Ministry of Education Dictionary of Chinese Idioms; poem texts and readings against
Hong Kong Education Bureau reading resources. Individual lessons retain their source links and identify excerpts or
teaching adaptations.
Practice levels
Starter, Developing and Confident are editorial practice groups, not
official school grades. HSK 3.0 labels are a partial index of existing
content, not a complete syllabus.
